End of summer...

It is the end of summer for me... well, at least in the good ole' U.S. of A.! As of Friday, July 28th, Tobi and I will return to Germany to spend some time with his family until the start of next season. Up to this point, I have not signed a new contract for the 2006-2007 season. I wish that I could have reported the news of this before I leave, but it does not look like negotiations will wrap up before then. We are being very patient this summer and my agent exploring every option to find the best fit. I try not to worry about that and focus on intense training both in the weight room and on the court.

I must say that this past summer was amazing. We did a lot of traveling including trips to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Washington D.C.; the Outer Banks, North Carolina; the Jersey Shore; New York City; Philadephia; Amish country; and Longwood Gardens. Besides traveling, I also really enjoy being able go back each summer and spend time with my father in Williamstown, New Jersey, as well as being involved in the coaching of players through camp and individual work. Speaking of camps, I am excited to report that I have formed a partnership with Karen Dilmore, the coach at Williamstown High School, to form "South Jersey Advanced Skill Camps". In the summer of 2007, we will debut the first high school girls' advanced skills camp. Check back in later this year for further details!

MVP of WNBA All Star game: Katie Douglas

Katie Douglas won the MVP award in her first appearance as an all star. She was not even supposed to be in the starting five. Due to other player injury, she was bumped up to a starter. She definately stepped up and took advantage of an opportunity to prove herself as one of the best in the WNBA.

I followed her career in Europe the past two seasons and know that she has showed her star level caliber. During this past season, Douglas has played at Lietuvos Telekomas in the Euroleague and led the Euroleague in scoring with 20.8ppg. this past season. She is also a team player who does the little things to makes her team better.

It was really nice to see a somewhat under-rated WNBA player raise herself to new heights. This reminds the "underdogs" to keep pushing themselves and to get better. It is true that we never know what opportunities might present themselves. The key is to be ready and not let them pass you by!

Jordan is getting sued!

Allen Heckard is suing Michael Jordan because he is tired of being mistaken for him nearly every day for the past 15 years. “I’m constantly being accused of looking like Michael and it makes me very uncomfortable,” Heckard reportedly said. This Portland, Oregon man has filed a lawsuit for $832 million in county court against Michael Jordan and Nike founder Phil Knight on June 29. How did he get to this figure? “Well, you consider my age and you multiple that times seven and then I turn around and I figure that’s what it all boils down to,” said Heckard.

Is this a joke?! No, this is apparently not a joke and is exactly what this man is doing! The funniest thing is that Mr. Heckard is actually led to believe that he can get money for this! There is no way that this case will make it past county court and should be thrown out immediately. First of all, it should be a compliment to look like Mike. He is one of the best basketball players in the world. Second, it is not Michael Jordan, nor Nike founder, Phil Knight’s fault that Allen Heckard looks like Michael Jordan. This is completely out of their control and is certainly not something you should be able to get millions of dollars out of. This is just another example of people trying to take advantage of other people with money.
